“The Real Booty Babes – Love is Free”

The Booty Babes are finally back with a brand new single “Love Is Free” The question on everyone’s lips is what style this track will be in?? After starting as a HandsUp project and introducing the world to “Booty Style” (see “Bring Booty Back” Feature) they eventually turned to Electro with their latest releases…. I know which style Id love to see return 😉

“Alex Megane Feat CVB – We Are The Colors”

Another artist Im a fan of is also making a return, Alex Megane (Hurricane/Stars/Something) and another project which seems to be currently evolving into new styles… After the latest release from his other project “Alex M. Vs Marc Van Damme – Technodisco 2.0” which decided to go the softer side of dance, Only time will tell how this will turn out, Dont let us HandsUp fans down Alex!

Verano Boys Are Back TOOOO!

Its the return of all the big projects it seems and Verano & De-Grees are no exception..  After the great remake of “House Baby” (Club Mix of course) they are returning with a brand new single which I have been informed is NOT a cover of any sort… Lets hope that amazing BASS is back too!

We just need Special D back and the whole family is back together… Oh wait, whats that? He is coming back?! 😉

A Legend Of Dance Music Passes

The past couple of weeks have been hugely sad with the news that Sebastian Göckede (most commonly known as Bass T) passed away. The news was truly shocking and at such a young age (only 34) My thoughts & prayers go out to his family and friends.

With it comes a huge loss for the music world, Bass T was the artist that  made me fall in love with HandsUp, him along with Rocco produced the wonderful “The Sign” and from the first listen I was hooked, handsup was my one love from then.

Not only was he a part of a number of music projects (Rocco Vs Bass T, G&G & more) but he was also the manager of Planet Punk Music Record label and was behind the Future Trance compilations (The biggest albums for HandsUp/Dance & Electro) His effect on the music industry was huge and it will not be the same without him.

As a tribute a number of artists have come together to produce a single under the name “Bass-T & Friends – Shine Your Light” & so far confirmed is a Megara vs. DJ Lee Remix & Giorno is on board too…. More news on the great project soon. Bass-T will be hugely missed. Thankyou for the music!

The Album Game!….

Last week I started a daft bit of fun on Facebook & Twitter where you had to guess the song from the singles artwork (With the title taken out of course!) It seems to be quite popular so this shall carry on.. Have fun with it and I shall make them as challenging as possible! :p

Bring Back The Booty Style!

Earlier today I driving back home, it was a long drive… listening to my music collection, blasting out some classics from 2005/6 when a certain track made me realise something. The said song was DJ Deect – Love Changes (Da Ph1ls Rmx) dating back to 2006 & it dawned on me that it has been many years since the last “Booty Styled” track has appeared in one of my new playlists.

This fact is a crime! This style is amazing, it was one of the first styles I heard back when I was first getting into HandsUp music!

Now for those who are not familar with this particular style, its the same BPM as current “HandsUp” tracks but has some signature elements, The main one being the way the melody plays out, It fades in and out with the bass to create a powerful up and down effect, hard to explain but easy to hear (Please check below for examples). Another element in the majority of these tracks is the trademark “Der Der D-D-Der, Der Der D-D-D-Der-Der” Sound on th build ups to the melodies… Again impossible to describe, easy to hear.

The main artists to use this style included The Real Booty Babes, As mentioned earlier Da Ph1ls, Booty Shakerz, And confusingly Unreal Booty Babes (Many of whos tracks got confused for The Real Booty Babes) And more!

The Real Booty Babes making it the main style and creating many copycats, Starting in 2005 with the release of Since Youve Been Gone and a remix of Cascada’s Neverending Dream in 2006 I got hooked! One of the first tracks I got addicted to was “Kelly Clarkson – Behind These Hazel Eyes (Unreal Booty Babes Rmx)” and I set out to find more of this style.

After a little searching I found a remix by the Unreal Booty Babes of a recent TV competition winner Tobias Regner, “I Still Burn” original had charted as number one in Austria, Switzerland & Germany and I quited like it (for a rock ballad anyway) But then I discovered this remix. I fell in love with it and is actually the soundtrack to my first holiday abroad with mates, reminds me of it everytime I hear it (Including the drunken Malibu night and the worst hangover ever!) It may not be to everyones taste but man I played this track a LOT!

DJ Deect – Love Changes (Da Ph1ls Rmx) was the next track that caught my ear, A Great cover of the classic by Climie Fisher, including all the tradmark sounds of a “booty” track with the powerful swiping melody! (Unfortunately there isnt a great video on youtube for this track)

The Real Booty Babes continued to create great and powerful tracks & remixes! Many for massive handsup artists at the time including Alex Megane, Cascada, Pulsedriver & More! I 100% knew I’d love their remixes for the upcoming singles they were included on that I waitied patiently for.. Never being let down! Buying some powerful speakers and playing them at every party I went to some 6 years ago, Its the soundtrack to my school/college days. Other great tracks were:

The last Booty track (As far as I’m aware) was back in 2008 with the release of Paffendorf Vs. The Real Booty Babes – On & On 2008, The Real Booty Babes decided to take a slight direction change with all their future releases and the other artists making this style seemed to disappear into the darkness, most creating other projects and leaving booty style behind.

This post was created by a fan who misses this style massively but these classics still remain and to anyone who has missed this genre entirely then give these tracks a listen and tell me what you think, would you like to see it make a reappearence or let the classics live on as they are…. With the The Real Booty Babes seemingly going the House music route now (Booo 😦 ) It seems maybe its time a new artist takes the helm? One can hope.
